I was just wondering if anyone could reccomend some good books to me about single parenting, and single parenting and dating. I read a really good magazine article the other day, but it was in a doctor's office, and I don't remember any of the book titles.
I'm a single mom to a 6 month old girl, and sometimes, I find that this whole single parenting thing gets rough. Last night when my daughter was screaming, I would have loved for someone to be there to play tag-team with. And dating... scares the hell out of me. I also have this fear that no one wants to date a single mom. I know it's not true...but...that's how I feel.
( a little background before I get the whole "you're a harlot because you're a single mom" speech...my child's father kicked me out of our home when I was 5 months pregnant, and has wanted nothing to do with either one of us since then.)
Good books on single parenting/dating?
Congratulations on your beautiful little girl. I am a single parent too and no judgement here. It is a hard gig and it can be overwhelming! I think it is good that you aren't considering dating right now. You need to focus on your child and your own self. What I found most helpful is a single moms minstry that I joined. Check to see if there is any single parent support groups in your area or churches. I've made many friends with kids the same age and we help each other out and give each other emotional support.
Also check out your library. I found some good books about single parenting there; sorry, don't remember the names.
If your man left you in such a state, you are better off without him and so is your daughter. Give her as much love as humanly possible and seek support.
Here are some links to get you started.
Reply:Now is not the time for dating. Wait until you've found a way to improve your choices in men. If your last man was the type to kick a pregnant woman out your obviously need to work on your choices.
Your child deserves your full attention. Leave dating for when your child is grown. Get a hobby.
