Why are single bottles of beer cheaper when single sodas are more expensive than packs?

Beer sold in single bottles are cheaper per ounce than when sold in 6-packs. Soda sold in single bottles are more expensive per ounce than soda in 6-packs.

Is this because 6-pack beer is more popular than their single versions, while single bottle soda is more popular than the packed versions?

yes that is it
Reply:Remember beer is the unquenchable thirst
Reply:Where are you buying your beer? in the US? never have seen it cheaper for a single. a Single beer goes for about $100 a six pack is 4.79. I called the store down the street, asked how much for a single beer, budwieser, miller, coors etc, he said $1.07 thats with the tax, and I asked whats the price on Six pack of the same and they ranged between $3.69- $5.29 before tax, no matte the single, it's a $1, cheapest or regular, micro beers and imports where up to $2 each. Iv'e been buying beer over 25 yrs and lived in 7 states and drove truck all over the USA , never seen the bargain you mention. the deals get better the larger ammount you buy, 12 packs are good priced, but cases better. breaking a six pack cost the store in the long run, so they charge more.
